Learning English Through Duolingo

     My name is Frizky Karunia Saputra and in this blog I will be sharing to all of you about my experience and the short explanation of Duolingo's English lesson.

I chose the English language lesson for this assignment and did exactly three units in the first section. I will briefly tell and explain to you what each unit teaches and focuses on.


            - Unit 1



In unit 1 I learned about 'Travelling Solo'. This unit has the theme of travelling, like travelling to a new place, experiences in travelling, etc. The questions in this unit mostly consists of filling out the blanks with the correct words or grammar, with the occasional multiple choices question. Some questions also consist of listening to a sentence and I'd have to choose the correct arrangement of words to create the same sentence I heard.

            - Unit 2



In unit 2, the structure of the questions are not much different than the first unit, the only difference is the main theme of this unit. The theme of this unit is ordering food through online delivery.

There is not much to explain because the structure of the questions is similar to the first unit.


            - Unit 3



Unit 3 is literally the same, with only a theme difference. The theme in this unit is describing a day in college. The structure, question styles, they're all similar to unit 1 and 2.

What I have gathered from learning English from Duolingo is that it's kind of repetitive. It may be effective to some people, but for me Duolingo just feels more like a laid-back exam than an actual learning course. I suppose the only good thing from learning from Duolingo is that it's free.

My name is Frizky Karunia Saputra, from class 3SA05, with 10623071 NPM.         In this college assignment, we were tasked to play a game called 'Scrabble' a game that tests your fast thinking and vocabulary skills.      I did not know what Scrabble was before this assignment. But after playing for the first time, I realized how stupid and slow I am. Even competing against a bot for a 3-minute match had an absurdly embarrassing result. The bot managed to beat me by a lot of points and there were a lot of moments where I had to take more than 25 seconds to think of what word I could put onto the board. The match made me question my skills and talents in English. 'The Perfect Vacation' ESL Listening Lab.

          My name is Frizky Karunia Saputra and in this week's blog I will be sharing to you the answers and final result of my ESL Listening Lab test about interviewing titled 'The Perfect Vacation'. Learning Small Talk & Conversational Vocabulary

      Hello, Frizky here again to submit my college assignment. This time we were tasked to take on three modules on an online course from coursera.  There were many kinds of courses to choose from and each one of them are different from the others. For this week I chose the free course that teaches me about Small Talks & Conversational Vocabulary. The course consisted of one module only, but the module is filled with the materials needed to understand the focused topic. To put it shortly, the module teaches me on how to make small talks with a person, and to understand the correct specific vocabulary that is usually used in conversations. On the last part of the module, the course gives you a multiple choices assignment to finish, and the questions in said assignment is of course related to the focused topic, which is making Small Talks.
